An occasion to celebrate!

This is indeed an exciting time for artists of the Maharashtrian community in L.A. The M.M.L.A Ganesh Utsav seems to have been a starting point for the formation of MALA, an artist group within the community. It couldn't have happened at a more auspicious time than now for a start! (Ganapati Bappa Moriya!) When M.M.L.A sent their email for artists to have an exhibition, at the Ganesh Utsav Festivities, I was truly excited. What evolved was even more exciting......we all formed a formal group with a blog, where we can have a forum to express our views, display any art and this may in turn, even open new events/ venues to showcase our Art. To this cause, I have to mention Avi Sadhu, who has been the driving force behind MALA. There are a few other people behind the scenes also, but my ignorance of their names prevents me from mentioning any at this time. Anyway, thanks to Avi's efforts that we all artists could come together.
As for my Art. I love painting in Water Colors, even though I have also painted before in Oils. Back in the days when my children were very young, and when I couldn't use turpentine etc. in the house, I stopped oil painting and used water colors exclusively since then.
Much later in Life, when my children left for college, I went on to study Graphic Arts and was introduced to felt tip pen markers. I loved that medium. So today I would like to show two of those illustrations that I had done.
Here's to all members of MALA and to its success!
"Two bulls", Felt tip Marker illustration

"Cat on top of the world", Felt tip marker illustration

"Camouflage", Water Color, 9" x 12"

Westlake lake, Thousand Oaks, CA. Water color, 15" x 22"

  2. Your paintings are good but your writing is good too!! The Cat seems to be on top of the world! Is this watercolor or felt tip pen markers? It looks so much like watercolors.
    Congratulations on your first post!!
